Humble Beginnings Give Way to Passion

OM Development was founded by Martin Bhatia and was created from his desire to build smarter and better homes while serving the enviroment.  

Bhatia began his career working for another development company where he focused on improving construction techniques for investment properties and homes. But Bhatia instantly found passion when a friend introduced him to the Chicago Center for Green Technology. The introduction was an answer to his life long question, "What can I do to help the world?"

Bhatia couldn't teach his old company new tricks so he set out on his own and formed OM Development. OM Development got its name from Bhatia's desire to seek balance in the home. "Balance is created when quality is combined with conscious efforts to improve the home's performance, says Bhatia."

After meeting George Sullivan of Eco Smart Building and practicing different techniques on our first buildings we finally finished our first certified project. Our path to going green has been an expensive learning experience, but we feel it's worth the effort and money.

It's now 2008 and we are dedicated to only producing green homes in Chicago. In order to do this we've undergone a lot of changes; such as handling construction ourselves and finding like-minded partners in the industry.

What's next? We have many ambitions and we aspire to be recognized as the premier builder of green homes in Chicago. We want buyers and sellers to recognize the value of having a high performance home with quality structural construction and great finishes. We plan to introduce as many green 'extras' as possible and we strive to keep on top of the newest and greatest. As technology becomes more accessible, we plan to step into alternative energies and super green homes.
